Our Story

About Us

It all began in 2019, when our founder, Angelina, was invited as the keynote speaker at the CAMFED Ghana graduation and induction ceremony for Mastercard Foundation Scholars & Cummins in Mfantseman. After the event, four young women approached her, and in that moment, she recognized them.

They were the little girls she used to see at church, now grown into bold, bright young women full of ambition and hope. As they spoke, it became clear: what they had in dreams, they lacked in direction.

Inspired by that encounter, Angelina began mentoring them. The transformation was immediate and powerful. What started as a small mentorship initiative quickly turned into a shared vision, a space for girls to dream, grow, and rise. With just five girls, we hosted our first “Vision Board Hangout” in Mankessim, in Ghana’s Central Region. That day marked the birth of a movement.

About Us Image

We began as Girls Alive—today, we are Mbasiafo Tribe.

Mbasiafo has become a sisterhood, a movement, and a force for change. We exist not just to empower, but to build a community of young women from rural and suburban communities—girls often overlooked, yet full of potential. We create spaces where they can grow personally, rise professionally, and become catalysts for change in their own communities. What makes us different is that we don’t just “empower girls.” We equip, challenge, and support them to become the reason other girls believe they can rise too.
